President William Ruto has announced that the government will further reduce the price of diesel by Sh10 in the upcoming June–July fuel pricing cycle as part of efforts to cushion Kenyans from the rising cost of living.

Speaking on the government’s fuel stabilization measures, President Ruto said the planned reduction is aimed at easing the burden on transporters, businesses and households that heavily rely on diesel.

“I have directed that in the next pricing cycle, we will further reduce the price of diesel by Sh10 to provide additional relief to Kenyans,” the President said.

Ruto attributed the expected reduction to the government-to-government fuel import arrangement, commonly referred to as the G-to-G deal, which he said has helped stabilize fuel supply despite global market disruptions.

According to the President, the arrangement has enabled Kenya to secure guaranteed fuel supplies and avoid shortages that have affected several countries due to fluctuating global oil prices and supply chain challenges.

He maintained that the deal has ensured consistent availability of petroleum products across the country while helping the government manage pressure on the Kenyan shilling and fuel costs.

The latest announcement comes amid growing public concern over the high cost of fuel and its impact on transport fares, food prices and the overall cost of living.
