The Raila Odinga International Stadium – Talanta is now 88 percent complete, Defence CS Soipan Tuya has said after touring the facility to assess progress.
The main structural works have been finalised, with contractors now focusing on the final phase to prepare the stadium for use.
Tuya noted that ongoing works are aimed at making the facility fully operational and compliant with international standards ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The stadium is among key projects expected to anchor Kenya’s hosting plans for the continental tournament.
Construction is being overseen by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), with the government simultaneously rolling out complementary infrastructure to support the venue. These include upgrades in transport, energy, ICT and water systems under a coordinated approach across agencies.
The CS was accompanied during the inspection by Brigadier Titus Sokobe, Chief of Infrastructure at Defence Headquarters, Architect Major Victor King’e and other senior KDF officers.
