President William Ruto on Thursday, August 28, presided over the Passing-Out Parade of 18,000 newly trained National Youth Service (NYS) recruits at the NYS College in Gilgil, Nakuru County.

Speaking during the ceremony, President Ruto reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening NYS as a pillar of unity, skills development, and youth empowerment.

As such, the head of state announced that the NYS graduates will have reserved positions in the upcoming September police recruitment drive.

To be precise, President Ruto said that of the 10,000 police officers who will be recruited, 4000 slots will be reserved for the NYS graduates.

“I have given instructions to the Ministry of Interior to ensure that out of the 10,000 police officers to be recruited, 4,000 will be given to the NYS. This should be done in our next hiring, which is due in September,” said President Ruto.
