President William Ruto is currently in Kazakhstan for a two-day State Visit during which he is set to discuss ways of taking the diplomatic and economic relations between Kenya and the Central Asian country to higher levels.
The visit is a big step towards strengthening relations which have been kept alive through persistent diplomatic engagements and growing trade cooperation over a period of ten years.
President Ruto expressed that Both Kenya and Kazakhstan have enjoyed cordial relations, but now, the time has come to take them to a higher level by finding new areas of partnership.
In fact the two countries are already trading in tea flowers fertilizers, and logistics among others and the President remarked that as Nairobi and Astana continue to have more direct flights, it will be easier to increase trade and investment not only with the two countries but also other Central Asian nations.
Kenya in its turn through President Ruto will focus on finance, information and communication technology (ICT) tourism energy, education exchange and programmes during the visit. These initiatives will not only create jobs and assist in skill transfers but also help increase the market share of Kenyan products.
President Ruto remarked that the burgeoning ties between the two countries are a manifestation of Kenya’s larger plan of diversifying its trade partnerships and deepening its engagement with emerging markets globally.
The State Visit is also expected to enhance cooperation between Kenya and Kazakhstan in regional connectivity and economic development, positioning both countries to benefit from increased bilateral engagement and investment opportunities.
