President Ruto: Accurate Data, Early Warnings Key to Climate Resilience

President William Ruto met World Meteorological Organisation Director-General Celeste Saulo, in State House Nairobi. They discussed vital partnership for the benefit of region and the world.

The engagement focused on expanding Kenya’s technical capabilities in weather monitoring and forecasting, upgrading national meteorological services, and aligning regional efforts with global frameworks such as the UN’s Early Warnings for All initiative.

The head of state noted that accurate data and early warning systems are essential for building climate resilience and achieving sustainable development. “We are proud to contribute meaningfully to the global climate agenda and to play a critical role in our region.” said President Ruto

Through collaboration with private sector and development partners, and leveraging the expertise of the World Meteorological Organisation, Kenya aims to enhance national capacity by modernising essential equipment and technical infrastructure.

The collaboration is expected to facilitate the modernization of key weather infrastructure. Also to enhance disaster preparedness, and support long-term climate adaptation across Eastern Africa.
