The National Police Service has intensified intelligence-led operations targeting illicit brews and narcotics as part of efforts to dismantle illegal drug networks across the country.
Police also seized significant quantities of cannabis in different forms, including bales, rolls, sticks and seeds. Assorted equipment and other items believed to have been used in the illegal activities were also recovered during the operation.
In Vihiga, Cheptulu sub, county police on Thursday staged an operation on Musasa village, Tiriki East sub-county, resulting in the arrest of three people and the seizure of 560 litres of a local brew (locally referred to as chang’aa).
In addition, police seized significant quantities believed were involved in the illegal drug trade, including cannabis in different forms, like bales joints sticks and seeds. Equipment and other items suspected to have been used in the unlawful activities were also captured during the raid.
Through its public communication platform, police stated that all pieces of evidence had been secured through the ongoing investigation. Now, the three suspects were held under lawful custody and will soon appear before a court of law.
Authorities said the investigations are continuing as officers pursue other individuals believed to be connected to the illegal activities.
