Police in Vihiga County have intensified the crackdown on illicit drugs and alcoholic brews after recovering suspected cannabis sativa and chang’aa in Majengo town.

Officers conducted a search at a presumed house in Majengo where they seized cannabis in different forms and stages of processing.

The police also located a number of pieces of paraphernalia thought to be used in the preparation, processing, and packaging of the alleged drug.

During the second search of the building, 22 twenty-litre yellow jerricans were found together, which believed to contain chang’aa.

The recovered items were documented and secured in police custody until ownership can be traced and persons involved can be identified.

The operation is part of an ongoing drive by the National Police Service in several parts of the country to sabotage illegal deals in drugs and alcohol available in the country.

NPS said there would be continuing targeted raids in areas believed to be serving as hubs for the manufacture, distribution, and storage of illegal drugs.

The National Police Service has also appealed to the members of the public to assist the police by giving information on suspicious activities.

This information can be provided to the local Police Station or call emergency services as the authorities aim to break down drug and alcohol selling networks.
