Police and Advocates Build New Bridge for Justice and Professionalism

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja today hosted a delegation from the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) for a meeting at the National Police Service Headquarters, Jogoo House ‘A’, aimed at building a stronger cooperation link between the law enforcement agencies and the legal profession.

LSK President Senior Counsel Charles Kanjama, who was leading the delegation, handed over a memorandum to the Inspector General during the meeting which took place on 26 June 2026.

They discussed and agreeing on human rights issues, enhancing contacts between the police and the advocates, promoting ethics and assisting in the implementation of court orders as well keeping the administration of justice.

IG Kanja acknowledged that cooperation between the National Police Service and LSK in the areas of professionalism, accountability and rendering better services can not only be beneficial but also essential.

He emphasized that police officers have a great responsibility in the protection of people’s rights and freedoms, while also ensuring the enforcement of law and that strong community partnerships will help their efforts get more recognition with improved standards being the end result.

The IG also said that there is need to come up with joint initiatives in education and development of police skills as a way of transforming police stations and service points into centres of excellence in service delivery.

Kanjama recognized the sustained collaboration and friendly discussions between the two teams and emphasized the significant role of partnership in the justice system’s enhancement.
