The county of Nyandarua received 663 digital equipment for distribution between 88 health facilities, which officials confirm is a great step towards the digitization of healthcare service delivery.

The devices are meant to increase efficiency, accountability, and transparency in service delivery and also help in preventing cases of unqualified practice and fake claims within the Social Health Authority (SHA) system.

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, who presided over the ceremony during his county tour, said the devices are part of broader reforms to revolutionize Kenya’s health financing system. He noted that under SHA, all Kenyan citizens across age, income, and ethnicity  are guaranteed cover.

“Taifa Care Model success depends on strong cooperation among national and county governments, health providers, and communities. The only way to leave none behind is unity,” Duale added.

He also pointed out that government, under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), is also shifting to protect vulnerable households by sponsoring their premiums under SHA.

The handover event was attended by Nyandarua Governor Kiarie Badilisha and dignified by top health officials including Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, SHA CEO, and Eng. Anthony Lenayara, DHA CEO.

County leaders received the move as a milestone that puts Nyandarua at the forefront of Kenya’s health sector digitization, in line with national efforts towards the creation of a more inclusive and technology-driven healthcare system.
