The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has urged motorists whose Smart Driving Licences are ready to collect them from their designated centres, while warning against using brokers to access its services.

In a notice issued on Friday, October 16, the authority asked motorists to visit the centres where they registered their biometrics and carry their original national identity cards for verification.

“Visit the centre where you registered your biometrics to collect your Smart Driving Licence today. Remember to bring your original ID for verification,” NTSA stated.

The authority also cautioned motorists against paying middlemen to help them obtain driving licences, vehicle logbooks and new-generation number plates.

NTSA said applicants could access its services directly and check the status of their documents online without involving brokers.

“Do not deal with brokers. We have made our processes completely transparent, giving you full control without any need for brokers or intermediaries,” the authority said.

Drivers have the opportunity to use the NTSA web portal to find out the readiness of their driving licences, logbooks and reflective number plates for delivery.

Those who need to know the readiness of driving licences can use their national ID numbers, while vehicle and motorcycle registration numbers can be used to find out the readiness of logbooks and number plates.

It is free and does not involve registering in order to use it, in addition the website shows the centre from which one needs to collect each document in order to avoid unnecessary visits to the NTSA offices.

Moreover, the authority has made it possible for those who want to complain about something to do so through the website; updates on how the problem is solved are provided to the e-mail used during the submission of the complaint.

The NTSA authority has warned motorists about possible dangers of using unauthorised brokers.
