The High Court in Kakamega has dismissed a petition by former Harambee Stars goalkeeper Patrick Matasi, allowing the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to proceed with disciplinary action against him over alleged match-fixing.

Matasi had secured interim court orders in April 2025 temporarily halting a 90-day suspension imposed by FKF in March, following a viral video that allegedly showed him discussing plans to fix a league match.

In its ruling, the court found FKF acted within its legal mandate under the Anti–Match Manipulation Regulations and said Matasi’s petition lacked sufficient merit.

The case, which drew widespread attention due to Matasi’s stature, saw FKF launch an investigation alongside FIFA and CAF. Matasi denies any wrongdoing, insisting the man in the video is not him. His club, Kakamega Homeboyz, has also stood by him.

With the legal hurdle now cleared, FKF is expected to resume the disciplinary process that could determine the goalkeeper’s future in football.
