The second edition of the Mau Conservation Marathon will officially be launched on May 4, 2026, at the Sarova Woodlands Hotel as stakeholders intensify efforts to promote environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods within the Mau Forest ecosystem.
The event will also mark the commissioning of the marathon registration portal under the Mau Forest Complex Integrated Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Programme (MFC-ICLIP).
According to organisers, the initiative seeks to strengthen conservation efforts while supporting communities living around the Mau Forest Complex through sustainable economic activities.
Principal Secretary for Environment and Climate Change Festus Ng’eno is expected to host the event in his capacity as Patron of the MFC-ICLIP programme.
The marathon has become part of broader campaigns aimed at restoring and protecting the Mau Forest Complex, one of Kenya’s key water towers, while creating awareness on environmental conservation and climate resilience.
The launch event is expected to bring together government officials, conservation partners, environmental stakeholders and members of the public.
