Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has announced that Nairobi will host a major continental summit bringing together more than 30 Heads of State to deliberate on Africa’s development priorities.

In a statement, Mudavadi said the Africa Forward Summit, scheduled for May 11 and 12, 2026, will serve as a key platform for high-level dialogue on the continent’s future under the theme of advancing Africa’s shared vision.

He noted that the summit will focus on seven thematic areas aimed at shaping Africa’s development agenda, with discussions expected to bring together African leaders and global partners.

“We have spent months working to ensure that when the world comes to Nairobi on 11 and 12th May, Africa arrives as a continent with a clear vision of its priorities, and the partners committed to advancing them alongside us,” he said.

According to Mudavadi, preparations for the summit have been ongoing for months to ensure that Africa presents a unified position on its priorities while strengthening partnerships for implementation.

“Nairobi becomes the convening point for one of the most consequential conversations for Africa in this generation,” he said, adding that the summit carries the potential to define a new chapter in Africa’s global engagement.

The Prime Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the meeting will not only focus on dialogue but also on delivering practical outcomes that support Africa’s economic transformation and cooperation with international partners.

The Africa Forward Summit is expected to position Nairobi as a central hub for continental diplomacy and high-level policy engagement.
