Former First Family member Muhoho Kenyatta has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late former Lugari Member of Parliament Cyrus Jirongo, describing him as a close friend whose warmth and humility extended beyond politics.
Speaking during Jirongo’s requiem mass held on Saturday, Muhoho recalled fond memories shared with the late politician, highlighting their personal bond and moments of friendship.
“We used to consume chicken and ugali quite a lot when we met. Sleep well, my brother,” Muhoho said, drawing warm reactions from mourners.
The light-hearted remark reflected the deep personal connections Jirongo maintained with friends and associates, painting a picture of a man remembered not only for his political influence but also for his down-to-earth nature.
Jirongo, who died on December 13 in a tragic road accident along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway, is being remembered as a seasoned politician, businessman, and mentor whose influence cut across political and social divides.
During the memorial service, family members described him as an extraordinary individual who played a pivotal role both in public life and at home.
His sister, Grace Jirongo, said the late politician was warm, approachable, and welcoming, noting that his presence left a lasting impact on those around him.
“He was a person who brought people together. His kindness and openness touched many lives,” she said.
His daughter, June, expressed gratitude for the values and lessons her father instilled in her, saying she was proud of his achievements both as a public servant and as a parent.
Another daughter, Judy, described his death as a painful and shocking loss, praising his generosity, strong principles, and commitment to guiding those around him.
“He was a man of high principles and generosity. His guidance and love shaped our family, and his legacy will live on through the lessons he taught us,” she said.
