Mudavadi in Japan for TICAD 9 to Deepen Kenya–Japan Ties

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi is in Yokohama, Japan, for the 9th Tokyo International Conference on Africa’s Development (TICAD 9).

The conference kicks off on Wednesday.

According to hi office, Mudavadi will participate in plenary sessions and official events, including a welcome reception hosted by Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishida and Yokohama City Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka.

He is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Ishida tomorrow, visit the Yokohama City Assembly, and later engage with Mayor Yamanaka.

He will also take part in a public-private business dialogue and witness the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between Kenya and Japan.

A key highlight of Mudavadi’s agenda will be his involvement in a side event on the Economic Inclusion of Forcibly Displaced Persons in Africa, hosted by the UNHCR.

He is expected to present Kenya’s Shirika Plan, launched in March 2025, which has transformed the Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps into integrated settlements providing education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
