Kathiani MP Robert Mbui has accused the government of using fear and confusion to frustrate today’s Saba Saba demonstrations.

Speaking on Monday morning, Mbui criticized the deployment of roadblocks across major roads, saying the move was aimed at scaring citizens and showing off state power.

“Setting up roadblocks isn’t just about security it’s meant to intimidate Kenyans, what we’re seeing is a government that keeps tripping over itself. One ministry says civil servants must report to work, while another blocks access to the city. It doesn’t add up.”Mbui said

Early in the morning several entry points into Nairobi were blocked by police, leaving motorists stranded and thousands of commuters forced to walk long distances to get to work.

The government’s response has sparked criticism with many accusing officials of undermining constitutional rights under the guise of maintaining order.

Kenyan Gen Z have been leading nationwide protests since June , demanding better leadership and accountability, in response to police brutality and economic hardship.
