Mohamed Salah has officially announced he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025–26 season, bringing to a close a historic nine-year spell at Anfield.
The 33-year-old forward confirmed his decision in a heartfelt video shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday, March 24, addressing fans directly in what marked the first part of his farewell.
“Hello, everyone. Unfortunately, the day has come… I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season,” Salah said.
In the emotional message, the Egyptian international spoke about his deep connection with the club, the city and its supporters.
“I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club—it’s a passion, a history, a spirit,” he added.
Salah also thanked fans for their unwavering support throughout his time at the club.
“You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you. This club will always be my home… You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and quickly established himself as a key figure under former manager Jürgen Klopp, playing a central role in one of the club’s most successful modern eras.
During his time at Anfield, he scored over 250 goals and helped the club win major honours, including the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title in the 2019–20 season, ending a 30-year wait.
He also lifted domestic trophies and the FIFA Club World Cup, while winning multiple individual awards, including three Premier League Golden Boots.
The announcement follows months of speculation over his future, despite signing a contract extension last year.
Both Salah and the club are understood to have agreed that the upcoming departure marks the right time for a new chapter.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot paid tribute to the forward, describing him as one of the club’s greatest players.
“Mo is a legend. What he has done for this club is extraordinary. We will do everything to make his final months unforgettable,” Slot said.
Following the announcement, fans flooded social media with tributes, celebrating Salah’s impact and legacy at the club.
His departure will mark the end of an era at Liverpool, with the forward widely regarded as one of the greatest players ever to wear the club’s colours.
