Drama unfolded in Migori as an elderly man took down a church (Holy Ghost Last Call church) built on his land and chased away worshipers in Sangla Kagak, Awendo sub-county.
The man identified as George Ouma had donated his piece of land to the church after receiving healing at the said church years back, after battling a sickness that couldn’t be healed medically.
The man stated that they also have their own lands where they can build churches on for their own benefit.
“I have watched these people benefit on this land without me complaining for long, yet I suffer and they cannot help. I haven’t benefited from the church in any way, so I want them to go build the church on their lands,” said Ouma.According to the old man, the tussle began when he was left with nothing after giving out the land. The church members didn’t consider him anywhere.
“ They said that they had set aside money for elderly people, yet I was excluded from this. After seeing this, I vowed to make them look for another area, I wanted us to be on one page as worshippers and things would be fine,” he stated.He, however, stated that he is ready to let the church members settle on his land if they reach an agreement.
