The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, met with Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko at Afya House on Tuesday to explore ways of strengthening health service delivery in the county.

The meeting focused on aligning national health programs with Migori’s specific needs, including expanding infrastructure, boosting equipment supply, and increasing enrolment in the Social Health Authority (SHA).

“We’re committed to supporting counties like Migori in transforming their health systems,” said Dr. Oluga, citing ongoing efforts to expand the National Equipment Support Programme (NESP) to enhance facility-level diagnostics and treatment.

Governor Ayacko welcomed the Ministry’s support, highlighting the county’s priorities improving ambulance services, equipping facilities, and enhancing resources for Community Health Promoters (CHPs).

He also noted that SHA enrolment in Migori currently stands at 37.7%.

Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth and other senior officials were also present at the meeting, which marked a renewed push for collaborative, county-driven health reforms.
