Formula 1 returns after a five –week break with Miami Grand Prix Sprint weekend, as all eyes are on Lewis Hamilton continues his debut season with Ferrari.
As the season resumes with the year’s second sprint weekend in Miami, a race which McLaren haswon each of the past two seasons, Mercedes remains the favorites owing to a winning startin F1’s new era of regulations 2026.
Sports analyst Martin Brundle has described Miami as a “season relaunch,” after the enforced April break, with teams and rivals eager to close the gap of early 2026 pacesetters Mercedes.
Mercedes will resume the campaign with Drivers’ Championship leader Kimi Antonelli and team-mate George Russell.
Charles Leclerc and Hamilton are separated by eight points, in third and fourth place in the drivers’ championship, both battling in China and Japan.
With 19 races left this season, Brundle believes is too early to set new rules and car development for a definitive order. He noted Hamilton’s relentless drive as a hint of victory, although he will have a fight on his hands against Leclerc.
The F1 formula this season will be alternating as teams rolling out stages with some upgrades for potential of the cars.
