Mbeere North parliamentary aspirant Newton Karish has downplayed concerns over the certification of political party membership lists, insisting that the process remains on track ahead of the upcoming by-election.
In a statement on Thursday, Karish clarified that the recent communiqué from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) regarding timelines for certification by the Registrar of Political Parties (RPP) was administrative rather than a legal requirement.
“I’m in the Democratic Party (DP) list, which the RPP certified yesterday. Parties will present their respective membership lists to the IEBC on 24th September 2025. It is therefore not material when the list was certified, as long as it is presented to the IEBC no later than 24th September,” Karish said.
The aspirant urged supporters to remain calm, assuring them that his candidature is intact and that the party is fully prepared to comply with IEBC requirements.
