National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has urged the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Central Management Committee to expel Secretary General Edwin Sifuna from his position, saying the party risks internal divisions if swift action is not taken.
Speaking in Suba South constituency on Sunday, Mbadi, a former ODM chairman, accused Sifuna and his allies of abandoning the party’s agenda and aligning themselves with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“If someone does not want to agree with ODM policies… that person should be allowed to go so that we know how many people he is leaving with,” Mbadi said, warning that Sifuna was “selling the agenda of someone else” while holding a top leadership position.
He urged the Central Management Committee not to delay in acting against Sifuna, citing what he described as repeated indiscipline towards party leader Oburu Oginga.
Mbadi dismissed the Linda Wananchi campaign led by Sifuna, Babu Owino, and James Orengo, calling it baseless.
Despite the brewing rebellion, Mbadi reaffirmed that the UDA-ODM partnership would continue. “ODM is a solid party. It will remain strong, just as Raila left it.
Some people think we cannot play politics — we will, and we will ensure our members remain steadfast under Oburu Oginga,” he said.
