The Mau Mau Original Trust Organization has invited the public to be part of the ongoing registration exercise aimed at initiating compensation from the British government through an easy-legged exercise.
During officers’ sensitization at Homabay County Commissioners office, Molyne explained that the registration is meant to gather names of Mau Mau freedom fighters’ direct descendants. She said the move is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to seek reparations for injustices done to Kenyans during the colonial era.
She explained that the exercise is very important to ascertain that families who qualify for support are considered after the talks with the British government are done.
Present at the occasion, Acting County Commissioner Charles Mwayaya advised the local residents to get involved and not be scared of the process. He recommended that those with doubts about the registration should seek answers from the appropriate authorities rather than simply dismiss the opportunity.
The awareness project is a part of the Mau Mau Original Trust Organization’s national campaign to gather the descendants of freedom fighters to document their claims for justice and compensation formally.
