Jubilee deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i has reaffirmed the Jubilee Party’s unwavering support for former President Uhuru Kenyatta, amid escalating political tensions and criticism from sections of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
In a statement issued on Monday, Matiang’i said the party firmly stands with its leader, describing Uhuru Kenyatta as a symbol of courage, leadership, and commitment to party unity and national progress.
“We stand firmly with our Party Leader, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta. Jubilee believes in his leadership, his courage, and his unwavering commitment to the progress and unity of our party,” he said.
Matiang’i emphasized that while Jubilee respects differing political opinions from government leaders, political differences should be handled with civility and respect for democratic principles.
“We respect the different views of those in government, and we will be civil about it because we believe in the decency of difference,” he added.
He further condemned what he termed attempts to intimidate or silence the former Head of State over his political positions, insisting that such actions would not weaken the party’s resolve.
“Attempts to intimidate or silence him for expressing his support will not shake our resolve. We remain united, we remain focused, and together, we will work to fix and move Kenya forward,” Matiang’i stated.
The remarks come at a time of heightened political exchanges between allies of President William Ruto and opposition-aligned leaders over the continued political role and influence of former President Uhuru Kenyatta in the country’s evolving political landscape.
