Makueni County government has fired a nurse at Kee Level 3 Hospital in Kaiti Sub-County after she was accused of misconduct.
In the October 22, 2025 letter signed by Dr. Philip Maiko, the Kaiti Sub-County Medical Officer of Health, the nurse identified as Nicodemus was accordingly notified of the termination and instructed to hand over his authority prior to leaving the premises.
The move came after it was reported that the nurse had allegedly sent threatening mobile phone text messages to a patient who declined to buy medicine from a specific chemist he had directed him to.
Sources within the county health department told Citizen Digital that the issue was reported to the sub-county office, prompting an internal investigation that ultimately resulted in the sacking of the nurse.
“I am writing to give formal notice of termination of contract as a registered nurse with Kaiti Sub-County,” the letter reads in part. “The termination takes effect on Friday, October 24, 2025. You are expected to hand over to the facility in charge before your departure.”
Dr. Maiko, while confirming the action, appreciated the nurse for his previous service to the institution and the community.
The letter was copied to the Chief Officer for Health Human Resource Management and Administration, the Director of Health Planning, and the Facility in Charge of Kee Health Centre.
The county health department has not commented on whether the matter will be referred to professional regulatory bodies for further disciplinary consideration.
