The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Lumakanda Police Station with the alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County.
The police officer appered before Senior Resident Magistrate Dorcas Mac’andere, where police prosecutors Ian Makotsi and Prudence Lelei opposed his release on bail and bond.
The defendant has been charged with the main offence of defilement contrary to section 8(1) and (3) of the Sexual Offences Act No. 3 of 2006.
He is also alleged to have conduct an act of gross indecency with a child opposite to Section 11(1) of the Act. Additionally, prosecutors have charged him with abuse of a position of authority under Section 24(2).
According to prosecution, offenses took place between September 24-27, 2026. The crimes involved a 14 year-old-girl.
In opposition to the bail/bond application, the prosecution submitted that the offences were of a serious nature.
The magistrate ordered the accused to be detained until the 1 st October 2026 for the determination of his bail terms.
The accused shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty based on law.
