The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has charged a 20-year-old man, Amir Latif, alongside a female TikToker, with trafficking 109.17 grams of heroin valued at Ksh. 327,510 in Mombasa.

The duo appeared before Resident Magistrate Green Odera but they pleaded not guilty.

Principal Prosecution Counsel Purity Musembi, urged court to impose strict bond conditions, emphasizing the seriousness of the offence and the need to protect the public from illicit drugs.

Odera directed Amir Latif to deposit a bond of Ksh1 million with a surety of equal value and to surrender his passport, while restricting him from leaving the court’s jurisdiction pending trial.

The court declined bond for the minor, following an age assessment confirming she is 17 years old.

She has been remanded at Likoni Children’s Remand Home and will be placed under the care of the Children’s Department for correction, reintegration, and rehabilitation.

A social inquiry report revealed that she had been living with Latif after leaving her parents’ home three years ago.

Pretrial proceedings are scheduled for March 17, 2026.
