The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has reminded employers to file their Pay As You Earn (PAYE) returns and make the required payments by October 9, 2026.
In a notice issued on Monday, October 5, the taxman asked employers not to wait until the last day to complete their monthly obligations.
The reminder comes after some taxpayers reported difficulties using KRA’s online services while trying to file their August PAYE returns.
KRA acknowledged the complaints and said it was working to resolve the technical problems affecting the filing process.
“Hi, kindly be patient as we are working to resolve the issue,” KRA said in response to taxpayers who had raised concerns.
The authority has now urged employers to file their returns and make payments early to avoid possible delays as the deadline approaches.
PAYE is deducted by employers from employees’ salaries and remitted to KRA. Employers are required to file the monthly returns and pay the tax collected within the set deadline.
Those who fail to meet the deadline may be charged penalties and interest.
The October 9 deadline comes as KRA continues to make changes aimed at helping taxpayers settle outstanding tax obligations.
On October 4, the authority announced that taxpayers seeking to benefit from the ongoing tax amnesty can now pay their principal tax liabilities in instalments.
Under the arrangement, taxpayers must clear the outstanding balance by December 31, 2026.
The instalment arrangement applies to principal tax under the amnesty and does not change the October 9 deadline for employers to file and pay their current PAYE obligations.
