KPA Graduates New Firefighters After 16-Week Emergency Training

The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) on Friday held a graduation ceremony for a new group of firefighters .

The team underwent 16 week emergency response training held at the Bandari mARITIME ACADEMY.

Today graduated a new group of firefighters after a 16‑week emergency‑response course held at the Bandari Maritime Academy.

“The firefighters will be deployed across KPA facilities to strengthen response capacity at the Port of Mombasa and other operational areas, “Statement read.

The event was presided byHarbour Master and General Manager for Marine Operations Captain Patrick Ondenyi, who represented KPA Managing Director Captain William Ruto.

During the event , he said the training is required to support safe operations in a high‑risk port environment that handles hazardous cargo and heavy vessel traffic.

Capt. Ondenyi said the programme covered fire behaviour, hazardous‑materials handling, marine and landside rescue, equipment use and basic emergency medical skills.
