Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has urged Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to reconsider his role in the opposition and align himself with the government, suggesting he would be a more constructive partner than former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during a visit to Machakos County on Friday, Kindiki praised Kalonzo’s leadership qualities, describing him as someone who could be a “good friend” to the government—unlike Gachagua, whom he labelled “hostile and selfish.”
Kindiki’s comments echoed those of Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, who recently criticized Kalonzo’s continued alliance with the opposition, saying he was “playing small” politically.
“If you allow me, I’ll go and look for my big brother Kalonzo,” Kindiki said. “Between me and Gachagua, who shows him more respect? I will call him anytime—he’s my big brother. We need people who have Kenya’s best interests at heart.”
Kindiki highlighted the government’s intent to widen its support base by welcoming leaders from diverse political affiliations. He also reflected on his own political journey, emphasizing the value of unity and inclusivity in governance.
“Kalonzo has always demonstrated a commitment to the country’s well-being,” Kindiki added. “Bringing him on board would help us fulfill our promises to the Kenyan people.”
