Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has inspected ongoing development projects in Bahati, Nakuru County, including a Sh249 million modern market and an affordable housing project comprising 1,167 units.
Kindiki said the projects were part of the government’s broader investment in infrastructure, housing and trading facilities aimed at expanding economic opportunities and improving livelihoods.
The Deputy President addressed thousands of residents in Bahati Township on Tuesday after inspecting the two projects, which he cited as part of the administration’s development programme in the region.
He also pointed to the dualling of the 223-kilometre Rironi–Mau Summit highway and the tarmacking of 870 kilometres of priority roads in Nakuru County as investments expected to support economic activity.
According to Kindiki, the government has allocated Sh38 billion for roads, Sh47 billion for markets and affordable housing projects, and Sh3 billion for rural electrification in Nakuru County.
He said the investments reflected the administration’s commitment to equitable development, arguing that public resources should benefit Kenyans regardless of their backgrounds or where they live.
The Deputy President has repeatedly used the phrase “Usawa ni Sawa” to describe the government’s position on equality and access to development opportunities.
The Bahati visit comes as the government continues to highlight infrastructure and housing projects as part of its development agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The Rironi–Mau Summit highway project is expected to improve connectivity along a key transport corridor, while the affordable housing and market projects are intended to expand access to housing and provide traders with improved business facilities.
