The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) men’s handball team, the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league champions, secured a resounding victory over Juba City from South Sudan in the quarter-finals of the 42nd East and Central Club Championship in Kigali, Rwanda.
In their Pool A group, the Kenyan team triumphed 62-10 over Juba City, marking their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. Earlier, NCPB had defeated Rwanda’s APR 33-25, before repeating the same scoreline in a win against Gicumbi.
Coach Brian Mathews of the Millers expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance in the preliminary rounds, emphasizing the importance of staying focused and approaching each match with determination.
In the women’s competition, Nairobi Water secured their first victory, defeating the University of Kigali 33-25. The reigning champions will play their final match against ESC Nyamopole on Saturday, while Police will face the University of Kigali on Friday. The women’s tournament follows a round-robin format, with the team accumulating the most points ultimately claiming the title.
