Guns recovered in Kerio Valley.

Police in Tot, Kerio Valley have received 15 AK-47 rifles and 77 rounds of ammunition, voluntarily surrendered by local residents as part of the ongoing disarmament efforts.

The weapons were handed over on Tuesday with the support of local Peace Committees in Ketut, Chemwonyo, Mon, Kiptumbur, Kibaimwa, Chechan, and Murukutwo locations.

This follows a similar handover just two days earlier, when residents turned in 12 AK-47 rifles and 64 rounds of ammunition to security officials.

The recovered firearms and ammunition are now in secure custody. These latest surrenders bring the total number of illegal weapons handed in during the current disarmament campaign to 205 rifles, 1,413 rounds of ammunition, and one firearm grenade (FRG).

The National Police Service has praised the collaboration of community members, elders, and Peace Committees, and continues to encourage the public to support peace initiatives by sharing information and voluntarily surrendering illegal firearms.
