The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) PAMOJA 2024 has lauded Kenyan fans for their passionate support of the Harambee Stars, crediting the energy from the stands for propelling the team to unprecedented success in the ongoing tournament.
In a statement, the LOC also expressed gratitude to President William Ruto and the Kenyan government for their unwavering backing of the national team and the tournament at large.
However, the organisers raised concern over recent incidents of crowd trouble at Kasarani Stadium, warning that continued breaches could attract sanctions from football authorities — potentially denying Kenyan fans the chance to host and enjoy similar events in future.
“To ensure the safety of all attendees, the smooth running of the tournament, and to protect the reputation of Kenyan football, we urge supporters to observe all safety guidelines,” the LOC said.
Fans have been advised to:
- Buy match tickets exclusively from the authorised online vendor, as only e-tickets will be accepted.
- Arrive at the stadium at least five hours before kick-off with tickets ready on mobile devices for quick verification.
- Follow all security instructions from event officials at all times.
The committee also announced plans to set up official Fan Zones for the Harambee Stars’ final group match against Zambia on Sunday, August 17, offering a safe and controlled environment for supporters to gather.
“We must work together to ensure Kenya continues to host major tournaments and showcase our passion for the game in the right way,” the LOC added.
