Kenyans travelling from Nakuru to Nairobi have been forced to prove their nationality by showing their identification cards at a police roadblock in Rironi Town along Nairobi Nakuru highway.

This comes amid the Sabasaba planned demos with several police blocks in major highways witnessed, preventing Kenyans from accessing the Nairobi Central Business District.

At Rironi Town along Nairobi-Nakuru highway, police set up a road block forcing passengers to alight from their vehicles and display their national identification cards.

In Limuru and Kikuyu Constituencies police officers have barricaded all roads heading to the government installations, with public and private vehicles denied access to town.

At the same time Bata Shoe Company in Limuru remains protected area as tension rises ahead of commemoration 35th saba saba day. And the usually busy Thika bus park was eerily empty, leaving commuters stranded and the town unusually quiet.

Major parts of the town were deserted on Monday as fear of possible unrest during the Saba Saba commemoration.

Only a few banks and chemists opened for business, while major streets and markets recorded minimal activity.
