Kenya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Endelevu Enterprise Corporation that could unlock a proposed $3 billion investment in an integrated green mobility ecosystem.
President William Ruto witnessed the signing of the agreement at State House, Nairobi, as the Government seeks to attract investment into electric vehicle manufacturing and other clean mobility industries.
Ruto said the proposed investment will cover electric vehicle assembly, charging infrastructure and related value chains, creating opportunities for Kenyan businesses and workers.
“Witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Government of Kenya and Endelevu Enterprise Corporation at State House Nairobi,” Ruto said.
According to the President, the partnership is expected to create thousands of jobs while expanding opportunities for local businesses to participate in the emerging electric mobility sector.
The proposed investment will also facilitate the transfer of skills and technology to Kenyan workers and enterprises, supporting the development of local capacity in green mobility manufacturing.
Ruto said the partnership would contribute to reducing Kenya’s dependence on imported fuel by accelerating the adoption and production of electric mobility solutions.
The agreement is also expected to support the development of charging infrastructure, which is considered a key component in expanding the use of electric vehicles.
The proposed $3 billion investment would bring together various components of the green mobility ecosystem, including vehicle assembly, charging facilities and associated value chains.
Ruto said the development would position Kenya as a regional hub for clean mobility manufacturing, potentially opening the sector to wider investment and business opportunities across the region.
The Government has increasingly promoted electric mobility as part of efforts to diversify Kenya’s transport sector and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The partnership with Endelevu Enterprise Corporation is expected to create opportunities across the electric vehicle value chain, including manufacturing, infrastructure development, technology transfer and related services.
Ruto said the investment would therefore go beyond vehicle assembly by supporting a broader ecosystem capable of generating employment and enabling Kenyan companies to participate in emerging green industries.
The signing of the MoU marks the beginning of a proposed investment partnership whose implementation will determine the scale and timing of the planned projects.
The Government is expected to work with Endelevu Enterprise Corporation on developing the proposed integrated green mobility ecosystem as Kenya seeks to strengthen its position in clean energy and sustainable transport.
