Kenya had been ranked 119th on the latest DHL Global Connectedness Report, a slight move from previous rankings. It indicates a gradual shift in how the country is integrating into the world through trade, travel, investment, and the exchange of ideas.

In the 2026 report, the country is ranked 119 out of 180. It has a slightly higher position than in 2019. The country scored 45.9 points out of 100. This indicates a modest move in the country’s global trade. The DHL report examines how countries are engaging with the world. It measures the flow of goods, money, people, and ideas.

According to the report by the NYU Stern School of Business’ Steven Altman, the report provides a “clear picture of ongoing connectivity in a changing global political landscape and under economic pressures.” In the region, the country is ahead of several countries. For instance, Ethiopia is ranked 133rd. Uganda is ranked 145th. Tanzania is ranked 149th. Rwanda is ranked 152nd. The DRC is ranked 154th.

However, some other African countries are more advanced than Kenya. South Africa is at the top of Africa at 53, followed by Morocco, Mauritius, Djibouti, Egypt, Ghana, and Nigeria.

The two main dimensions that are measured by this index are the depth of a country’s global connection and the width of that connection across the world.

Kenya’s depth is very low at 175 out of 180. However, it has improved compared to 2019.

In the area of trade, it is evident from the report that Kenya still has a low volume of exports of goods and services to the global market compared to some other countries.

However, at a global level, Singapore is at the top as it has the highest level of connectedness due to robust international trade links and financial links. The UK has a high level of global connectedness due to a wide geographical distribution of its links. The UAE has shown a significant improvement in global connectedness over the last two decades compared to other countries.

Despite political tensions and economic changes occurring in different parts of the world, it is evident from the report that countries are still very interconnected at a global level.
