Kenya Prepares for Jamhuri Day with Focus on Jobs and Economic Growth

Kenya is marking its 61st Jamhuri Day with a theme centered on “Jobs, Labour Migration, Entrepreneurship, and Entertainment”.

As part of the celebrations, the Jamhuri National Job Fair, running from December 5 to 11 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), showcases the government’s efforts to address unemployment.

Government Spokesperson Hon. Sen. (Dr.) Isaac Mwaura outlined initiatives to create 1.2 million jobs annually by formalizing the informal sector, boosting agriculture, and expanding affordable housing projects.

Over 149,000 Kenyans have secured online jobs through digital hubs, and international labor opportunities have placed over 105,000 Kenyans in countries like the U.S., Germany, and Australia.

Reforms in the coffee sector and growth in construction have further created jobs and boosted economic resilience.

Meanwhile, the government is addressing recent floods in affected regions, providing aid to displaced families.

President William Ruto is set to host a townhall at the job fair this evening to discuss progress in job creation under the Kenya Kwanza Beta Plan.

Kenyans are encouraged to explore career opportunities locally, online, and abroad
