Kenya Pipeline successfully defended their Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Women’s National League title after defeating rivals Kenya Prisons in the championship final, reaffirming their status as the country’s top women’s volleyball team.
The defending champions entered the best-of-three final determined to retain the crown they won last season, while Kenya Prisons were aiming to reclaim the title. The much-anticipated clash at the Kasarani Indoor Arena lived up to expectations, with both sides producing an entertaining contest.
Pipeline showcased resilience and tactical discipline throughout the final, relying on strong serving, effective blocking and clinical attacking play to overcome the experienced Kenya Prisons side and seal another league triumph.
Ahead of the final, Kenya Pipeline captain Gladys Ekaru had expressed confidence in the team’s preparations.
“We have to dominate all aspects of our play, including serving, receiving and blocking. We are very ready for the challenge ahead,” Ekaru said.
She also attributed the team’s consistency to discipline on and off the court.
“I usually ensure I train well, stay focused to avoid external pressures and maintain a balanced diet,” she added.
The league title crowns an impressive season for Kenya Pipeline, who also claimed bronze at the African Women’s Club Championship before winning the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament.
Kenya Prisons, who were chasing another league title, put up a spirited fight but were unable to halt Pipeline’s title defence. Despite the defeat, the former champions once again demonstrated why they remain one of Kenya’s strongest volleyball clubs.
The victory further cements Kenya Pipeline’s position as a dominant force in Kenyan women’s volleyball, with the club continuing to excel through consistency, teamwork and tactical discipline.
Both Kenya Pipeline and Kenya Prisons have already qualified for the next African Women’s Club Championship, where they will represent Kenya against some of the continent’s top teams.
Having successfully retained the national title, Kenya Pipeline will now turn their attention to continental competition, while Kenya Prisons will look to regroup and mount a stronger challenge next season.
