Kenya has taken a bold step into the future of tourism by partnering with Google, aimed at using artificial intelligence in tourism marketing and its destinations.

The agreement, announced by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano on Friday, stated they expect to revolutionize Kenya’s cultural heritage, wildlife and scenic landscapes for the world. Through the Magical Kenya platform, the initiative seeks to position Kenya as Africa’s leading AI-driven tourism destination by enhancing its marketing, visitors’ experiences and strengthening tourism planning through real time data insights.

Miano said the innovation will ensure Kenya remains a top global destination, as it will boost Kenya’s tourism industry and increase the country’s economic growth and competitiveness.

It will build a Tourism Pulse Data Hub that is powered by Google Cloud, which will provide real-time tourism intelligence, enabling policymakers and industry stakeholders to monitor travelers’ interests and respond to the global tourism patterns.

The partnership will also introduce a Gemini-powered AI travel planner for generating personalized travel itineraries based on visitors’ interests, travel preferences and behavior. Google will support digital skills training programs targeting young people and small tourism businesses. Tourism remains one of Kenya’s leading foreign exchange earners and supports the country’s economic growth.
