Kenya and the Netherlands have taken a significant step toward enhancing agricultural cooperation, with a focus on sustainability, technology, and value addition.
Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Sen. Mutahi Kagwe joined King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands in a tree-growing exercise at Thogoto Forest, Kiambu County, as part of Kenya’s ambitious 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme.
The initiative aligns with Kenya’s commitment to environmental conservation and climate-smart agriculture.
“Their three-day visit aims to deepen Kenya-Netherlands collaboration, with a strong focus on sustainable agriculture,” he said.

The Royal Couple also attended the Shamba Events, where they explored cutting-edge agricultural technologies, value addition innovations, and sustainable farming practices that are revolutionizing Kenya’s agri-food sector.
Their visit marks a deepening of Kenya-Netherlands collaboration, particularly in sustainable agriculture. The two nations formalized key agreements in agriculture, trade, and tourism through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), laying the groundwork for increased investment, business partnerships, and knowledge exchange in agricultural development.

The strengthened ties between Kenya and the Netherlands are expected to drive innovation, boost food security, and expand market opportunities for Kenyan farmers, reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in sustainable agriculture.
