The 5th Kenya Meat Expo has opened at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), bringing together players across the meat value chain to showcase products, exchange knowledge and explore investment opportunities.
The three-day expo is also providing a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies for sustainable growth and development of Kenya’s meat sector.
Speaking during the official opening, Principal Secretary for Trade Regina Ombam reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding Kenya’s export sector and creating an enabling environment for businesses to access regional and international markets.
Ombam said strengthening the meat value chain is critical to expanding Kenya’s export base, increasing value addition and improving the competitiveness of locally produced meat and meat products.
She also highlighted the role of young entrepreneurs in driving innovation and promoting climate-resilient growth in the sector.
The PS called for stronger collaboration among government agencies, private-sector players, farmers, processors, traders and innovators to address challenges affecting the meat industry.
She said closer cooperation among stakeholders would help unlock the sector’s potential and create more opportunities for businesses involved in meat production, processing and trade.
The expo brings together stakeholders from across the meat value chain, with discussions expected to focus on investment, innovation, value addition and access to regional and international markets.
