Kenya is poised for one of its busiest tourism seasons as the country enters the peak July-August travel period, with Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano highlighting the country’s unique attractions and strong international appeal.
Miano noted that Kenya, being geographically diverse would be the biggest asset. It gives tourists the opportunity to enjoy multiple weather types and activities within one place.
The July-August period is considered Kenya’s most popular season for tourists. Data from the tourism department shows that August was the month when the most tourist visits recorded, over 277, 000 while July follows closely with 257, 000 tourists.
The Cabinet Secretary also said these two months are practically half of all annual overseas tourist arrivals to the country, showing that people from all over the world are putting Kenya as their tourism destination.
“The figures simply confirm what the world has always known. The July and August months have been the pinnacle period for tourism in Kenya. ” said Miano.
She attributed the strong visitor numbers to Kenya’s diverse tourism experiences, which range from wildlife safaris and pristine beaches to rich cultural encounters and luxury hospitality
Another attraction of this season will be the Great Wildebeest Migration at Maasai Mara, one of the seven natural wonders of the world. From about late June to September, millions of wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and zebra make one-direction only movements into Kenya.
At the same time, holiday-makers will flock to beachfront areas of Kenya, for example at Diani where they’ll be entertained with warm beaches, clear blue waters and marine attractions besides other water sports.
Mino said that with a mix of conservation luxury culture, and adventure, visitors can expect to have seamless time in Kenya that makes her one of Africa’s best tourist destinations.
“Kenya doesn’t simply consist of a bunch of tourist attractions; it’s actually, a world, class single adventure that combines nature preserve, luxury living experience, and tradition, ” she added.
The CS once again confirmed Kenya’s global tourism identity by explaining that the ‘Origin of Wonder’ campaign encapsulates that special character of Kenya that she said makes a traveler come back. In fact, she asked those who are interested to travel in Kenya to visit the country for its different kinds of landscapes, wildlife and cultures.
“Our country will be open to the world to show the wonders it contains, ” Miano remarked.
