Kenya Industrialization Agenda Gains Momentum With New CAIPs Ready For Commissioning

Kenya industrialization agenda has taken a step forward, with County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs), including projects ready for commissioning.

Speaking at the Senate committee, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui, confirmed that the projects in Meru, Embu and Kirinyaga are complete and set to open and marking a milestone in the government’s push for value addition, job creation and wealth generation.

CS Kinyanjui said his ministry, under the government, will fully fund CAIPS in10 counties with Ksh 250 million each and partially fund 12 others. The parks are designed to provide modern facilities for processing agricultural produce, boosting local industries and linking farmers to export markets.

Kinyanjui updated the progress of economic partnership agreements will leverage to expansion of export markets, grow industries and create opportunities for our people.

He reassured senators that the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) is enforcing strict standards to safeguard consumers and ensure the safety of buildings and infrastructure. They discussed the state of Kenya’s textile industry and quality assurance measures on products, including cement production.

CS Kinyanjui was accompanied by PS Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring industrialization projects are not only funded but also monitored for impact.
