Government has reconfirmed its partnership with the World Bank to continue supporting water security, climate resilience, emergency preparedness, and they’ve planned expanding investments in the water sector of the country.
Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Eng. Eric Mugaa had a discussion with a World Bank Group team at Maji House in Nairobi discussing their partnership in current water security projects and how future projects can be developed for the benefit of more Kenyans.
The CS said in a statement that the World Bank is one of Kenya’s major partners in development and from their collaboration, Kenya has made progress in making water accessible and also building resilience to withstand climate change impacts.
Talks were held on water security projects that are being implemented and those that are going to be launched, and the two sides sought how to increase coverage and improve water delivery services across the country.
Other topics discussed at the meeting were flood and drought emergency response, and the amount of money needed to adequately prepare and respond to such occurrences was touched on.
The discussion demonstrates the government’s aspiration to partner with development allies in water infrastructure development, boosting of climate change resilience, and secure sustainable access to safe water generic for all Kenyan communities.
