Kanini Kega has announced the death of his mother, sharing a deeply emotional message that has drawn an outpouring of condolences from leaders across the political divide.
In a brief but heartfelt statement, Kega said he was struggling to come to terms with the loss, describing the moment as both painful and overwhelming.
“I am devastated and heartbroken. It is well with my soul, however it is difficult to believe that my mother has rested. It’s painful,” he said.
The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) legislator, who is also eyeing the Kieni parliamentary seat under the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), did not immediately disclose further details surrounding the passing.
Following his announcement, fellow politicians, supporters and members of the public took to social media to send messages of sympathy, with many urging him to stay strong during the difficult period.
Kega, a former Kieni MP and one-time Jubilee Party director of elections, remains a prominent political figure in the Mount Kenya region, making the news resonate widely within the area.
