Parents of students at Kangaru Girls’ High School in Embu have been left deeply worried after videos surfaced online showing the girls leaving school at night during a strike.
In the clips, the students are seen walking in heavy rain toward unknown destinations, raising fears about their safety as they move away from the security of the school environment.
Reports indicate that the unrest may have been triggered by disciplinary action taken against some students following an entertainment day incident. It is alleged that a group of students misused fire extinguishers during the event, prompting school authorities to review CCTV footage and punish those involved. The action is said to have angered other students, eventually leading to the strike and mass walkout.
The incident has revived memories of a similar night strike at St Mary’s Kibabi Boys High School, where a hotel owner in Bungoma offered stranded students shelter.
