A section of Rift Valley legislators has demanded that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following his latest remarks on the death of former Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla.

The leaders accused Kalonzo of making inflammatory statements that could heighten political tensions ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno and Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago led the charge, insisting that the Wiper leader should provide evidence to back his assertions.

Speaking on Sunday, December 7, MP Ng’eno said Kalonzo had made serious allegations suggesting General Ogolla was “taken out” rather than dying in an accident. Ng’eno argued that if Kalonzo possessed any credible information, he should immediately submit it to investigative authorities to aid in bringing those responsible to justice.

Senator Mandago echoed the concerns, questioning Kalonzo’s moral authority to issue such claims. Mandago linked the Wiper leader to controversies surrounding the disputed 2007 presidential election, arguing that such statements risked polarizing the country.

The lawmakers made their remarks during a church fundraiser in Kanui, Baringo North, where they urged Kenyans to be vigilant about sensational political pronouncements that could fuel unnecessary divisions ahead of the polls.

Kalonzo’s contentious comments came on Saturday, December 6, during the burial of Beryl Achieng Odinga, sister to Raila Odinga. While addressing mourners, he insisted that General Ogolla did not die accidentally, claiming he had been deliberately targeted.

He urged the community to seek the truth without fear.

This is not the first time Kalonzo has questioned the circumstances surrounding Ogolla’s death. In April, he challenged the DCI to summon him, saying he was ready to provide his account if required.

With the latest remarks reigniting debate, Rift Valley lawmakers have formally called on Kalonzo to record a statement with the DCI to clarify what he knows regarding the former military chief’s death.
