Jubilee Party has appointed two officials to fill vacant positions and named a three-member team to lead talks with other opposition parties ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 28, the party said its National Executive Committee (NEC) had approved the appointment of Lucy Naisiae Kashu as interim chairperson of the Party Women’s Caucus and Madina Yunis Mahat as interim Deputy National Organising Secretary.

The party also named former Murang’a Senator Kembi Gitura to chair the Inter-Party Coalition Building Committee. Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta and Janet Ong’era will serve as members.

The team will engage other opposition parties to explore possible partnerships and discuss how they can work together ahead of the next election.

One of its tasks will be to review the draft Deed of Agreement for the Ukombozi Alliance (TUA) and recommend changes where necessary.

The committee will also reach out to other like-minded parties and prepare proposals on how opposition cooperation can be strengthened.

According to Jubilee, the appointment is informed by its affiliation with the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance as well as the need for opposition parties to collaborate.

“The National Executive Committee affirmed that the Party will remain committed to constructive dialogue and cooperation in the realization of a common agenda for transforming our country,” Ole Kenta said.

The committee will forward its proposals to the NEC after the consultation process. The party’s executives will thereafter consider the proposals and determine how to proceed.

The appointments come at a time when the party is gearing up for the 2027 elections under the party leader Fred Matiang’i, following the handover of party leadership from the former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kenyatta had earlier called upon the members of Jubilee to rally behind Matiang’i as the presidential flag bearer of the party in the coming general election.

The recent development comes amid the ongoing efforts by Jubilee to organize itself as well as interact with other opposition parties during the discussions regarding possible alliances for the 2027 elections.
