Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hassan Ali Joho has delivered President William Ruto’s condolence message to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

Joho said he had the solemn responsibility of conveying Ruto’s message of condolence and encouragement to President Samia during the difficult period of mourning.

He was accompanied by Sudi, as he assured the Tanzanian President and her family of Kenya’s thoughts and prayers.

“May the Almighty Allah SWT grant the departed eternal rest and give H.E. President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania fortitude, comfort and peace during this difficult time,” Joho said.

Hafidh Ameir Hassan, Tanzania’s First Gentleman, died on Monday, September 7, 2026, while receiving treatment for a heart condition at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital in Zanzibar. His death was announced by Tanzania’s Vice President Deogratius Ndejembi.

President Ruto had earlier expressed deep sorrow over the death, describing Hafidh as President Samia’s lifelong companion, a beloved father to their children and a distinguished son of Tanzania. He said Kenya stood with Tanzania during the period of mourning.
